Do you enjoy seafood, truffles or olive oil? Then Le Marche is the place for you!
This region is noted for some of the best black truffle (tartufi) around, and I enjoyed every moment of making tagliatelle from scratch, with truffle shavings on top. I did not know that Le Marche is one of Italy’s principal truffle regions, but apparently they have many of the valuable tuber magnatum pico – the prized white truffle, and tuber melanosporum – the delicious black truffle. Buonissimo!

To top it off, Matelica even has its own wine (which only grows in the valle dell'Esino) -- Verdicchio di Matelica D.O.C. The family buys their supply directly from the vinicola Maraviglia, just one street over, with the picturesque vineyards lying in between the two. You can buy bottles by the liter, or even a 5 L jug for a longer supply ~_^
